New album 'Christmas'

Let's bring out the Christmas tree early this year! After Michael Bublé's 'Let It Snow' EP, there's now a new 15-track album named: 'Christmas'.

'Christmas' is once again produced by David Foster, Bob Rock and Humberto Gatica and is recorded in Vancouver and L.A. Michael recorded fifteen absolute Christmas classics such as 'Silent Night', 'It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas' and 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'. In addition, a Bublé original 'Cold December Night' will be included on the album aswell.

Duets include Shania Twain, The Puppini Sisters and the Spanish speaking singer Thalia.

You can view the complete album tracklist here

Michael about the 'Christmas' album: "Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year for me and my family so naturally it’s been a dream of mine to make the ‘ultimate’ Christmas record. Even though it was summer and 95 degrees in LA we totally got into the spirit of the holiday. Of course we decorated the studio with Christmas lights in the middle of July and that was a big help. One more thing, my mother told me it’s the best record I ever made."

'Christmas' will be released on 21 October. Below a few previews.

New date GelreDome show

After alot of negotiating a new Holland concert date has been planned. And even though there was talk of June (Paris has been rescheduled for June 3rd), that didn't work out unfortunately and the concert got moved to Thursday 28 October 2010 at the GelreDome in Arnhem.

Purchased tickets remain legit. When you can't seem to make it to the new date, you can return your tickets before September 28th 2010. If all goes right you'll be personally noticed by the ticketservice.

I know we have to wait just a little longer, but the concert will be there and we certainly will enjoy every minute of it!

(20-03-2010)

Fans visit empty GelreDome venue

What a hectic day in Bubléland!

I've tried to inform all fans on the cancelled concert by sending out newsletters, messages and emails. Also Dutch radiochannels and the GelreDome & LiveNation websites spread the news fastly.

Turns out, it wasn't enough afterall (not everyone has signed up for the Bubléland newsletter!) and there were atleast a 100 dissapointed fans standing infront of the empty GelreDome venue. Fans from Poland, UK, Latvia, Malta and a few Dutch fans didn't know about the postponed show.

Listen to a short interview with dissapointed fans here.

The latest news is that the drummer is doing alright, luckily no heartproblems. He's obviously taking it easy, but he'll be flying out of Paris tomorrow to join his fellow bandmates who are in Switzerland and off to Italy.

LiveNation reports you can get a full refund on your tickets if you're not able to make it to the new concertdate.

The new concertdate hasn't been announced yet, but it will probably be planned somewhere in June, before the 22nd, when Michael's second 2010 US Tour will take off.

(19-03-2010)

Holland show got cancelled

Dear fans,

Yesterday evening Michael & the band were ready to rock in Paris. Support act Naturally 7 was already on stage and finished their performance, but during their act Michael's drummer got unwell and needed to be hospitalized.

There has been contact with the drummer's loved ones, and also crew and management are able to confirm that he's going to be ok!

Ofcourse everyone has been looking forward to the shows, but the drummers health is the most important thing right now. This is why after cancelling the Paris concert, the Arnhem Holland show has to be postponed aswell.

"At the moment we are discussing a new concertdate with concertpromotor Mojo and the Michael Bublé management. Hopefully there will be more news to follow up later this day. Visitors will be informed right away," says the GelreDome venue website.

Keep an eye on Bubléland for new information aswell!

All the best,

Whitney
webmaster Bubléland

*Update
The Livenation website reports the following: "May you not be able to make it to the new concertdate, you can get a full refund on the concert ticket. Also, when we're not able to reschedule the concert, you will get fully refunded. You will be automatically noticed about this."

Michael Bublé - Vancouver 2010 Winter Games

(22-01-2010)

Michael and Luisana got engaged!

The news just got confirmed by Bublé's publicist Liz Rosenberg.

Michael and his current girlfriend Luisana Lopilato de la Torre are engaged.

Michael met the 22-year old Argentinian actress end of 2008 after one of his show in Buenos Aires, Argentina. For him it was love at first sight, but she thought he was gay! "I don't speak Spanish and she didn't speak any English at the time. The actor she was accompanied by did speak English, so I figured to just talk to him. Afterall, I was a little intimidated by Luisana's good looks. Later she told me she got off the phone with her mother, who told her I was gay and was hitting on her friend!", Michael explains in a previous interview.

Luckily, everything turned out fine and Michael proposed to his Lu infront of her family in Argentina, November 2009. The diamond engagement ring is designed by Michael himself and was made by Vancouver jeweler Minichiello.

"They're ecstatic. They're adorable, in love and laugh all day long," says Liz Rosenberg.

They haven't set a date for the wedding yet

Congratulations Michael & Luisana!

Bublé named Ambassador for BCCHF campaign

Michael Bublé has taken on the role of Ambassador for BC Children's Hospital Foundation's campaign for BC Children, a $200-million initiative to support the construction of a new BC Children's Hospital and to enhance medical services for children throughout the province.

"For me helping BCCH was a very simple choice," said Michael. "My cousins have been to BC Children's Hospital, as have I when I was a little one. Whatever I can do to help, I will do it."

A supporter of BC Children's Hospital for many years, Michael has participated in public service announcements for the hospital and has lent his songs 'Home' and 'Everything' to the Campaign. He has made numerous quiet visits to the hospital to meet children and their families.

"We are privileged to have Michael Bublé on our team," said Don Lindsay, president & CEO of Teck Cominco Limited and chair of the Campaign for BC Children. "Michael is remarkably talented, has a great way with people, and clearly has a deep commitment to BC's communities."

"I wish everyone could see BC Children's Hospital. It's one thing to see it on TV and another to actually walk in and see real kids, real families, real heartache. They need our help," Michael said.

Bublé in Chatelaine magazine

Michael Bublé has been honoured with the cover of the November issue of Chatelaine magazine.

Michael is only the third male to grace the cover of the Canadian women's magazine, since its inception in 1928. He says it was a great honour to be chosen and was thrilled to be asked.

Former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and hockey great Wayne Gretzky are the only two other men to make the cover of Chatelaine.

"And the first cross-dresser." he says jokingly when reminded of being only the third man in the long history of the magazine. "It's a huge honour and to be in that company is pretty amazing. I was thrilled when they asked me to do it."

Michael jokes that he's waiting for a call from Olympic organizers about the 2010 Games. He would certainly be an obvious choice to appear in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games. The 33-year-old has sold more than 18 million albums. won six Juno Awards. a Grammy. and performs in huge stadiums all over the world. "I've not been approached. I would hope to see some B.C. people. myself or Diana (Krall) or Sarah McLachlan."

He would accept "in two seconds." he says. "I'm proud of this place and I was thrilled when we got it. I'm looking forward to it."

Michael has been in the studio working on his fourth CD. We can expect a new Bublé original called "I Just Haven't Met You Yet". Another tour of the U.S. begins on October 1.

Michael and Emily break up

Emily Blunt and Michael Bublé have parted ways after three years together.

The Golden Globe-winning British actress, 25, and the 32-year-old crooner met in 2005, when she popped backstage to say hello to him after one of his concerts.

Two months after his breakup, Michael Bublé has nothing but nice things to say about ex-girlfriend Emily Blunt.

"Emily was a substantial person and amazing still," the pop singer tells Entertainment Tonight Canada in an interview airing Monday night. "Top girl. Top class."

"In my business it's tough to go out with another artist because you're never together," Bublé says. "You're lucky if you can see the person once every two to three months, and with Em, she was on her movies and I was doing my thing so it made it more difficult."

Still, the singer admits the breakup was hard. "I'll go home and I'll curl up in a ball and I'll cry. I'm not kidding. I'll just cry."

Bublé adds the split actually helped his songwriting.

"I'm really sentimental. That's why I think I love the music that I love," he says. "It's always tough to end a relationship, isn't it? It helps me actually to write. Whatever I'm going through, it's usually helpful."

Blunt inspired his 2007 Grammy-nominated song "Everything." After the breakup, Bublé penned a new song, "I Just Haven't Met You Yet." He said he's looking for another substantial woman for his next relationship.

Just to make sure, this is all I will post on this subject. No more rumors, or gossip, this message should clear the air. This is no gossip website, and Bubléland respects Bublé's private life.

Martini In The Morning

Martini In The Morning is a radio station based in Los Angeles, where they only play Standards; Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Diana Krall, Harry Connick Jr., Mel Tormé and alot more.

Not to forget, they play alot of Michael Bublé. In 2004 they even celebrated his birthday and it was a fantastic chaos on the MB.com forum. Fans emailed and called in to the studio from all over the world.

You can easily listen online, and now also watch the studio via a webcam stream.

Radio host Brad "Martini" Chambers, likes to hear from people listening. He has a big worldmap on his wall, where he pins his listeners from all over the world. He knows about this message on the site, so it would be nice to let him recieve some messages!

Go to MartinInTheMorning.com and let Brad know you're listening clicking "Check In" or request a song clicking "Request". An email can also be send!

Don't forget to mention you tuned in through Bubléland!

Here a 2003 interview with Michael at the Martini studio.

So, are you crazy about Standards and Michael Bublé - tune in! "Now THAT'S Music!"

Michael in Australia

Michael enjoys himself in Australia. "The people here are sort of like Canadians, but with good suntans," Michael says. "Australia is where I've written Home and where I've met Emily. Australia will always have a special place in my heart."

Seems after performing night after night at sold out venues, that the fans also have a special place in their hearts for Michael. And even though Michael's mean impression of an Australian is a big hit, the highlight of the show is the background screen showing Australian slides during Home.

Michael's also looking forward to another appearance on the Rove Daily show. The interview between Rove McManus and "Bublé, The Boob, The Tithumping Wildcat" as Rove would say, will be recorded this Sunday June 8th and promises to be hilarious again.

Bubléland apologizes

Dear fans,

Like you've probably noticed, the site has been really quiet for the last few months. For this I want to offer my apologies.

All news about Bublé has been continueing, and although we have the great Daily Bublé, newsbits also need to appear on this website. Bubléland is the one and only Dutch fansite and I'm planning on keeping that title!

Though, it's not always that easy. Lots of people think there's a whole team behind this site, but everything is runned by a 20 year old student who is in 3rd year of college and very busy!

Nevertheless, I'm trying to get back in business and will I be updating the website bit by bit.

Also emails will be answered as soon as possible!

Look out ol' Bubléland is back!

All the best,
Whitney

Michael wins JUNO Fan Award

Michael won the Doritos JUNO Fan Choice Award at the 2008 JUNO Awards held in Calgary, AB.

It was Michael's 6th JUNO Award since 2004.

Michael surprised us with his hilarious acceptance speech for the JUNO Fan Choice Award. Before announcing "This is for all those people who said I couldn't vote for myself enough times to win," Michael thanked the category's sponsor, Doritos, "for making such tasty treats," adding "sometimes when I eat them, my fingers, they go orange, but it's worth it!" The hilarity continued in the press room, where he told reporters, "I do love Doritos. I just learned when you're eating them, you should never watch dirty movies or anything like that. It's true, I thought there was something really wrong with me, but it was just the Doritos."

Pictures soon can be seen in the Showbizz gallery!

Emily, stalkers & diva behaviour; Bublé reveals

Michael Bublé has revealed that a crazed stalker tried to kill him and that his success has turned him into a diva.

Speaking to London 106.2 Heart FM's Emma B. Michael said "I had a man try to kill me when I was on tour in America. I don't think he was well. He was sort of a stalker kind of guy. I think that when the FBI picked him up, he told them that I had 'stolen music from black people'."

He joked his success had turned him into a diva. Michael said: "I'm intolerable. I actually hire someone just to feed me prawn cocktail crisps, one by one. I have to be carried, I don't do stairs anymore and I'm also to be called The Maestro whenever people are around. I like to go home and just burn money, sometimes a hundred pounds at a time."

Michael told Emma B. what he enjoys most is spending time with Emily. He revealed : "No matter what I'm doing I try to hang out with Emily as much as I can. We usually like to cook a lot and watch movies and stuff like that and have a bottle of wine and chat.

"I think Emily is a better cook. I think its pretty close though, she's far more inventive. She sometime reminds me of the rat from Ratatouille... maybe it's the way she squeaks."

Randy Napoleon out of the Band

After 3 good years, Randy Napoleon said his goodbyes to the Bublé Band.

The amazingly talented guitarist will not be a part of the 2007 Tour. He mostly wants to concentrate on his own music and band.

"I'm not playing w/ Buble anymore - I think you'll really enjoy the show non the less!!! Some of Michael's new music is more coming out of a pop tradition than the jazz lineage. That's not really what I do. Michael needed guys who were deep into that sort of a thing. I think that MB's new record is really stellar, and the guitarists he has working with him now are really wonderful. I know the new show will be absolutely fantastic, as everything he does is! As for me, I will be focusing on my own band, as well as few other projects I'm excited about. I have some stuff in the works with Melissa Morgan, Sachal Vasandani, Josh Brown, Julius Tolentino, and Ben Janasson as well as some other great band leaders. To quote a song -"It's a new dawn, it's a new day... etc " ha ha!
The last three years have been a really excited a wonderful time for me. Buble and his band are some of my favorite people in the world and I will really miss seeing them day to day. I will still be traveling a fair amount and I hope to see you all at a gig soon.
Hope you are well and maybe I'll get out to Holland some time with my own band!
Much love, R"

We will surely miss your solo's and great big smile, Randy!!

Michael Bublé on Call Me Irresponsible

It's quite a journey for the singer whose grandfather once exchanged plumbing work for the boy's chance to sing with local bands.
What happened?

"I don't know," Bublé says on the phone, "maybe there's a little more faith in the fact that I just don't interpret songs, I can actually write."

Sales of five million units on his last album, "It's Time", and his hit original song, "Home", certainly helped.

In "Call Me Irresponsible", his new album coming out May 1, Bublé was able to call the shots.

"I had to the power to conceptualize and to come up with brand new takes on songs that perhaps aren't as well known as the classic standards. I got to record "I'm Your Man" [written by Leonard Cohen], which I've always loved. It's a dark and sexy song. A desperate wonderfully sexy song."

Bublé's revelling in his newfound power to expand stylistically -- and it doesn't hurt that bringing his own modern flavour to the classics helps to build an eclectic audience.

"I was born in 1975, so I've been influenced obviously by great pop songs and great pop musicians," he says. "I wanted to create a hybrid that was more palatable not just to my audience by to myself. As much as I'm passionate about singing standards, I would be bored if all I was allowed to do is just swing."

One of the strongest songs on the new album is "That's Life", a driving, gospel-inspired song that Bublé, who isn't known for his spirituals, fought to have included.

"I was inspired by a singer named Donny Hathaway. When I came up with the idea, David Foster just looked at me and just went 'errr what?' I said David, I'm telling you man, I'm telling you it's going to be inspirational and he's going uh... and once we got it done, he said: 'Yup. I've changed my mind, I love it."

One of Bublé's personal victories in the recording studio is the fact that he cut so many of the tracks with a live vocal.

"On this record, I said I wanted to be emotionally honest and the only way I know how to do that is to sing it live. Let me sing it three or four times, then take the best one of those four and the difference for me is it's harder for me to listen to myself in this record because I can hear the flaws, but emotionally, finally it's honest.

For Bublé, it was a revelation and an understanding of what his fans meant when told him they preferred his shows to his CDs.

"Now I understand what it was about," Bublé said. "It was about emotion. With this music, lyrically, it's so important to be emotionally truthful."

"Call Me Irresponsible" will be in-stores May 1st (USA), May 5th (Australia) and April 27th & 30th (Europe).

Michael Gives ''Love'' To Ella

Michael Bublé is the sole male performer on "We All Love Ella: A Celebration of the First Lady of Song", an album honouring the great Ella Fitzgerald, one of the best interpretive singers, to be produced by legendary music producer Phil Ramone and released in June.

Michael will record ''Too Close for Comfort'' for the album, other artists will include Linda Ronstadt, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, Dianne Reeves, Queen Latifah and Diana Krall.

Ella Fitzgerald would have turned 90 this April. Ramone says "there's a generation that doesn't really know this music but needs to hear it. Young people don't care what period a song is from; if it swings, it swings."

Jann Arden on Michael & The Grammy's

Jann Arden has come to the defence of her friend Michael Bublé over his recent Grammy controversy.

Arden co-wrote the song "Lost" with Buble on his untitled new album, which hits stores May 1, and has also toured with him three times. She said he's only human.

"We all make mistakes," said Arden, while in Toronto this week promoting her own new album Uncover Me.

"Everyone jumped all over that. I've said so many weird things about the Junos and I've had the Canadian Idol people mad at me, I just think to not express any kind of an opinion is kind of lame. I don't blame him. It's an award that wasn't televised, and he said, 'Tony Bennett's probably going to get it anyway.'

Buble's a funny guy. He was probably joking around."

Arden said Buble approached her to write together.

"He brought this gorgeous melody to me -- we were somewhere on the road -- and he had a couple of words, and he said, 'I'd love you to write a lyric. But I don't want a sappy relationship song.' I said, 'You're f---ing talking to me? Like, are you crazy? That's all I can give you is a sappy relationship song!'

"And he loved it. I brought it back to him, and I guess (producer) David Foster flipped out over it, and they've recorded it already. I can't wait for him to sell 10 million records, and then I'm retiring already!"

Michael Bublé's New Album Out On May 1!

Michael Bublé has told Canadian media today in Toronto, that he's "still working on a new, as-yet-untitled album, and it isn't out until May 1". The highly anticipated new CD will be Michael's third major label release and will follow his phenomenal "It's Time" album which has spent a record-smashing 78 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Jazz Album Chart.

Michael Bublé Clarifies Grammy Awards Statements

Michael Bublé was recently quoted in an interview criticizing the upcoming Grammy Awards telecast. The Vancouver native, who has had the No. 1 traditional Jazz album on the Billboard charts for a record-smashing 78 weeks and is nominated with Caught In The Act for a Grammy, released the following statement through his recording label Reprise Records:

"I'm extremely honored to have been nominated for a Grammy in the Best Traditional Jazz category. I did indeed make my feelings known that the category should be broadcast live during the award ceremony. This category honors the interpreters of some of the greatest songs ever written. There are millions of people like me who love and respect this music.

I jokingly said that Tony Bennett is going to win anyway so why should I go? This is not sour grapes. I worship, love and respect Tony Bennett. He is my idol. I voted for him and he deserves to win.

I mean no offense to the Grammy Awards, the Grammy nominees or the NARAS organization."

Unfortunately the media has blown up Michael's sayings.

Bublé at MusiCan Teacher of the Year Awards

The many Michael Bublé fans out there have a very bad music teacher to thank. When Bublé was a boy, he had aspirations to be a trumpeter rather than a singer and, after much pleading with his parents, he was allowed to take lessons. But the teacher was less than encouraging and he quit the trumpet for good after a few sessions. And as they say, the rest is history.

Despite that experience, the Juno Award-winning crooner from Vancouver knows the value of a good musical education. Bublé was enthusiastic yesterday at the Hard Rock Café in Toronto as he presented Anne Turner of Whitehorse, Yukon, with the MusiCan Teacher of the Year award.

"I hope people don't think that I'm narcissistic for saying this, but music to me is hugely important," Bublé told the gathering. "It's not a hobby, it's important for a human being, it's what keeps us alive, so this is not a small thing. We'll never really be able to tell how huge an impact this woman has had," he said, gesturing to Turner. "I think it's wonderful to give of yourself like that. It's not an easy thing to do."

Blunt & Bublé on the Red Carpet

Michael Bublé and Emily Blunt attended The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA)/Los Angeles' traditional tea party held late-afternoon Sunday at the Four Seasons Hotel.

"It's been my job to calm her down," said Michael. Whilst Emily admitted high tea was not in her routine. "We have scotch-and-poker night," she laughed. "I know it would be just lovely for me to say, 'I serve tea and crumpets.' But that's not me."

The couple also attended The 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards on Monday night.

Michael supported Emily who won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made For Television for her performance in Gideon's Daughter.

Michael, who earlier had walked the Golden Globes red carpet with Emily, complained that he wasn't getting his fair share of attention. "Everybody's congratulating her on her two nominations but nobody seems to realize that I was nominated as well: shiniest shoes," he said. "(George) Clooney is always my biggest competition.

However, Michael raved about his date's body-hugging Hervé Léger gown, which Emily said she chose for its "old Hollywood" style and fantastic fit.

"Whether she wins or not, I'm walking home with two Golden Globes, baby..." said Michael.

Exclusive all-star concert on Oprah

It was the one-time-only performance you wouldn't see anywhere else. Tony Bennett, Michael Bublé, Carrie Underwood and Josh Groban singing "For Once in My Life."

The theme of the show was "What's Playing on Your iPod?" - Tony, Michael, Carrie and Josh appear on many people's iPods, but what are they listening to?

Tony says he listens to Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie. Does Tony have his own songs on his iPod? "Yep," Tony says, "Just a few songs."

Michael says he has the entire Tony Bennett collection on his iPod, and he admits to listening to himself sometimes, too. "Sometimes I think, 'Oh, Michael, you're so good,' he jokes. "And then other times I think, 'You know, it would've been really effective if I had sung that in the same key that the band is playing.'"

Everything for Bublé

Bublé and his girlfriend, British actress Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada), who he met backstage at the 2005 Logie Awards (Australia), were interviewed by Italian Magazine "TV Sorrisi e Canzonia". Michael not only talked about how happy and how much in love they are ("I like her so much I would eat her!"), he also mentioned he wrote a song especially for her called "Everything". "Cause she's everything to me," he says. This brand new original track will probably be featured on the new album.

Though, "Everything" is not everything that can be heard on the new album. The second originally written track "Lost" will also be one of the featured songs. It's an autobiographic song which helped him to get over the months of confusion after meeting Emily. "I was engaged with a wonderful girl since 8 years, but when I met Emily I started to ask myself why I had not married my girlfriend yet. So, I realized I didn't love her any more and broke off the relationship," Michael explains. "She's with another guy now and I hope she'll be happy."

The Leonard Cohen song "I'm Your Man" and Billy Paul's tune "Me and Mrs Jones" will most likely be on the tracklist aswell.

More info coming soon!

Newsflash on the new album

A spokesperson for Michael said "he's working hard on the new disk as he wants it to be in his words "Fabulous" - the process of recording the kind of music that Michael loves takes a great deal of time - and they typically start with a huge 'list' of songs and trim it down to ones they are certain will work on an album and also when he performs them live. He always jokes that they've got to be songs he loves cause he'll sing them every night for the next 2 years."

Like posted before, Michael plans to include at least 12 tracks, including two brand new originals. There's also talk of a surprise duet! If all goes well, the yet-to-be-named album will be available in May 2007.

Update on the new Album

Michael Bublé has been between Los Angeles and Vancouver since early September writing and recording songs for his highly anticipated new album.

He has spent time at Vancouver's Warehouse Studio, as well as Capital Studios in LA and Fosters Studio in Malibu. He has been working with producers, Bob Rock (Metallica, Motley Crue), as well as David Foster.

Michael plans to include at least 12 tracks, including 2 brand new originals. There's also talk of a surprise duet! If all goes well, the yet-to-be-named album will be available in May 2007.

Bublé for Charity

Michael does his best to support many charity organisations. Think for example of The David Foster Foundation and The Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation.

October 7th Michael flew to Las Vegas to perform at the Andre Agassi Grand Slam for Children Gala. The event took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Michael performed three songs, including Save The Last Dance and Song For You. The foundation raised more than $8.6 million dollars which will assist charities for under privileged, abused and abandoned children and will provide recreation and education for at risk youth. David Foster served as the Musical Director for the 11th Year.

Michael will also perform at a charity event for Ronald McDonald House at Green Acres Estate in Beverly Hills on October 28.

Currently he can be seen in a commercial supporting British Columbia Children's Hospital Foundation.

Bublé & Bennett shine in New York

Michael Bublé and Tony Bennett wowed the audience when they sang a duet of "Just In Time" at the 106.7 Lite FM 'One Night With Lite' concert, on Tuesday evening, in New York.

The show was organised to celebrate the release of Mr Bennett's latest album, 'Duets - An American Classic' which was released on the same day.

Speaking about Tony Bennett, Michael said "What is so spectacular about Tony is he never wavered from what he thought was right and made music for the people. It's wonderful when someone is so aware of their personal style. That's hip! He's timeless. What an inspiration for a young artist like myself."

Mr Bennett told media that he puts Michael in another category altogether. "I have a lot faith in Michael Bublé, I think he's just wonderful," said Tony. "He's the first artist of all of the contemporary artists - not just on my record but of all the artists that I've ever heard of the younger group - that believes in the past."

"If you steal from one, it's thievery. If you steal from everybody, it's research. He did that. He does a little Dean Martin, a little Sinatra, a little Bobby Darin. He does Louie Prima. He's a good performer. He's one of the few young artists that was smart enough to go into the past and say, 'Let's see what people did in the past that worked and they became famous.' If you don't know the past, how can you know the future?"

Michael & Tony performed their duet, 'Just In Time' on NBC's 'Today Show' live this Wednesday, September 27th. To watch their performance, click here

"It's Time" for a new record

Michael's new album, due out in May 2007, will be once again produced by legendary producer David Foster and Bublé also recruited the help of Canadian producer Bob Rock for his next record.

Rock who split with Metallica earlier this year, will be involved in a couple of things just like American music producer Tommy LiPuma was on Michael's multi-award winning record "It's Time".

Bublé is most likely to follow up the success of his hit "Home," by showcasing more of his original tunes. The creative freedom to include his original work on his own albums wasn't always the case. Looking to stick with a full album of standards, Foster rejected the idea of including original songs on Bublé's debut.

"I was frustrated," says the singer. "David wasn't mean about it, but he just said to me, 'Listen, I just put my balls on the line, and the record company put their balls on the line, and there's a lot of money at stake. I need to make a record that I know will work commercially. So if you have success, then you can put your balls on the line on the next record.' And that's what I did."

Among the mix of standards and original tunes planned for his next album is "a nice, poppy John Mayer-ish kind of song," says Bublé. "It's a really sweet song. I sort of compare someone to all of these things that I think are great: 'You're a carousel; you're a wishing well; and you light me up when you ring my bell. You're a swimming pool on an August day; you're the perfect thing to say...' But honestly, I'm in a bit of a rut writing-wise. I'm just too lazy right now."

Michael is currently in L.A. to work on the new album.

David Foster Star Search

Canada's national treasure - singing sensation Michael Bublé - will croon for charity this September. And he flew into Richmond from Los Angeles Friday night (February 16th) to make the announcement himself.

"It's great to be here," said the Burnaby-raised Bublé during a press conference for the David Foster Foundation at the River Rock Show Theatre. The slightly jet-lagged Bublé will be among the many celebrity performers at the star-studded 20th anniversary fundraising gala and concert to be held at the theatre the weekend of Sept. 9 and 10.

"I'm a 'Foster' child and I know David really well and that this is more important to him than anything," said Bublé. "I'm proud to play a small part in helping kids like this cutie pie. I really hope we raise a lot of money because we need to."

Bublé's "cutie pie" is four-year-old Brynn McKenna, who underwent a heart transplant when she was six months old.

Last year's sold-out show also featured talent search competition winner Alisha Pillay. Surrey's 15-year-old Pillay beat out more than 600 other contestants by dazzling Foster with her silky, strong voice. Saturday, Foster also announced that he is expanding his talent search to encompass the whole country (last year the talent search was only open to British Columbians) to find the next singing sensation.

"We will choose the next magnificent diamond in the rough and the winner will open the show in September," said Foster.

When Michael Bublé stepped onto the PNE's talent search stage in Vancouver nine years ago, he was just another unknown young hopeful, trying to break into an impossibly tough business - a charmer who serenaded female classmates and delivered singing telegrams in the halls of his Burnaby high school.

Today, the international superstar, with a voice as sweet and smooth as melted chocolate, is lending his famous name to a worthy cause while helping another, as yet unknown, singer to get a leg up in the music business.

Bublé and David Foster, the Victoria-born music mogul who launched him into the stratosphere, are looking for the next big thing

The David Foster Star Search began Thursday, June 8 with online registration for six regional competitions throughout B.C., including one in Langley, at Cascades Casino, on Friday, July 14.

"As someone whose dream came true from meeting David, I would jump at the chance to compete," said Bublé of the contest. Although it was Foster who gave Bublé his big break, winning the PNE talent search was a welcome boost for the singer. "It was pretty huge. It gave me hope," said Bublé, who's just completed a European tour. "It put me on people's radar locally." "Then it took me another eight or nine years to drive David crazy enough to sign me," he joked.

Getting noticed by a producer is crucial, Foster agreed. "When you want to sing or entertain and you're not in the loop... it's tough to know where to begin." For the next potential star, it begins somewhere in B.C. this month.

"The Star Search offers young BC singers the chance to pursue their musical ambitions, and we believe that all children should have the opportunity to follow their dreams," said David Foster.

There will be six regional competitions - in Langley, Prince George, Vancouver, Victoria, Cranbrook and Kelowna - with the winner of each moving on to the finals at River Rock on Sept. 8. There, they will be judged by a panel which will include Foster and Buble.

The contest is open to British Columbians, 14 to 28 years old. However, younger is not always better, Foster cautioned. Last year's winner Alisha Pillay was just 14 when she earned her spot on stage at the charity gala. Though Foster has kept an eye on the girl's progress, he said until a singer turns 18, there's not much he can do for them.

As far as the musical genre that's most appealing to the producer, Foster promised to keep an open mind, but admitted the eventual winner will likely be a pop singer.Song choice is critical, as well. "Sing a song that has great crescendo, that shows your range and tells your story," Bublé advised. Foster suggested Buble might want to team up with the winner at the gala show to duet on Quando Quando Quando. "Or I could even go out on a date with her," joked Buble "Take a song and make it your own," added Foster. "Sing it differently, if you can." "If Michael Buble can make it, anyone can," kidded Foster.

Last year's David Foster & Friends Charity Gala 2005 raised an astounding and record-breaking $2.89 million at the posh soiree, which saw Sarah McLachlan, Josh Groban and Renee Olstead perform as well as comedian Sinbad. Guests paid as much as $3,125 for a chance to be part of the star-studded affair.

The overall contest winner will perform at the David Foster and Friends Charity Gala, Sept. 10 at the River Rock Casino in Richmond.

"I would be lying if I said it wasn't a trip almost every day to hear that it's affected people."

"It's really great to be recognized," said Michael, who will be bringing his British actor girlfriend Emily Blunt to Sunday's awards. "It's a kick, man", he said.

The Juno Awards will for the first time be broadcast in the United States and around the world to an audience of almost one quarter of a billion households on five continents.

Michael Bublé and Tony Bennett recording together

Michael Bublé, may not have won a Grammy award this year, but he certainly has big days and nights ahead.

On Thursday, Bublé will record a duet with Grammy award winner Tony Bennett, for the legendary singer's duets album to be released later this year for Bennett's 80th birthday.

"It feels bittersweet to be here, but tomorrow I'll be doing a duet with Tony Bennett", Michael said after the Grammy result.

"I'm thrilled about it -- he's my idol. He's the guy," Bublé says. "It was really cool, 'cause he sent me a demo of the song, which is Just In Time, and so I'm sitting there in my apartment listening to this demo and I stick it in and it's him going, 'Hey, Michael, it's Tony. Hey, Bublé, I've been to a bunch of your shows and I know you've been influenced a little bit by Sinatra, and you do a little Darin, you even do a little Tony Bennett,' and he said on this recording, 'Could you just leave the Tony Bennett for me?' And then he giggled and that was it."

After the duet recording session, Michael will head to Las Vegas for a highly awaited four-night stand at the Hilton in Las Vegas, including Valentine's Day.

It's Time for the Grammy's

Multi platinum singing sensation Michael Bublé is ready for Wednesday night's big music night - The Grammy Awards.

Michael has received his first Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for It's Time.

"I thought, 'Oh my God, this is amazing'," says Bublé of when his tour manager told him about his Grammy nominations while in Spain last December.

Bublé is up for best traditional pop vocal album, but he faces some stiff competition from veterans Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Carly Simon and Rod Stewart.

Also nominated from It's Time is Jack Clayton Jr. and David Foster for their big band arrangement of the Beatles' Can't Buy Me Love in the category of Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist.

"I hope it's not too cliche, but when you're up against your idols -- when you're up against Tony Bennett and Johnny Mathis -- really, it's a huge honour to be nominated along with those names," he says.

"And if I don't win, they can never take it away from me that I was a Grammy nominated artist -- and if I do, it's beautiful."

"Just 'cause it's going to be a big night and I'm just going to concentrate on not passing out. You know, it's nerve-wracking. I think I'm going to go and do my best to look like I'm actually cool with everything."

Bublé was named last week as a presenter at this year's 48th annual Grammy Awards, to be shown live on CBS. He will also perform during the Grammy Award pre-telecast.

Unfortunately Michael didn't win the award and had Mister Tony Bennett the honour to win the award.
Michael ofcourse wanted to win it himself, but is very happy for his idol and friend Mr. Bennett.

Pictures of the Grammy's can be viewed in the Gallery.
