Whitney on Canadian radio
How did you became a fan?
My dad had rented the movie "Totally Blonde", not knowing Michael was one of the main characters. When he appeared and started singing, I nearly fell off the couch and had to know who he was. During the credits I wrote down his name and googled him. A few days later I signed up for the official message board and the rest is pretty much history!

When was that?
Begin of November 2003.

And then?
As the only Dutch and also youngest (15) fan on the board, I was online posting and reading messages, as it was the only information source I could find info on Michael and stay up to date. A year went by, but the chance of Michael coming to Holland was still nowhere to be found. Everyone on the board wanted me to go and see Michael so badly, that one British fan offered me 2 free tickets to the Royal Albert Hall show. I got the trip as a birthday present and me and my mom made our way to London. That was one big adventure!

What's your favorite Bublé song?
Oh, I have many! But 'Haven't Met You Yet', 'At This Moment', 'I've Got The World On A String', 'That's All' & 'The More I See You' are a few favorites.

Have you ever met any of the bandguys?
Yes I have, Rob W, Justin, Lipps, Alan, Jumaane, Rob P, Nick, Jacob, Roberto and ex-bandmembers Randy, Brian & Mark.

What do you like most about Michael?
His sense of humor.

What's a Bublé-moment you'll never forget?
Oh, I have more than one! But I think the very first time I met Michael. It was in London, he jumped off stage and made his round through the venue. I was seated at the aisle side and I thought 'this is my only chance' and stood up. When he noticed me standing there he yelled: "Ohhh YES!!", ran up to me, hugged me and then lifted me. The spotlight was on us and the crowd went nuts. That was a real moment I'll never forget! Though, when Michael mentioned me on his first Radio 2 interview and when he introduced me to the Pulse TV audience are also special memories!

If you could ask Michael one question, what would it be?
If he'd ever want to sing with me. :)

Sing?!
Yes, I'd totally love that, including the band playing!

When did you notice you could sing?
I was the lead in the 6th grade Christmas play, and had to sing a solo. I got many positive reactions.

Then what?
Nothing really, haha! I found out I really liked performing, but didn't do much with it. I went to 7th grade and that was that.

When did you start singing again?
In 2003 I discovered the one and only Michael Bublé. I completely loved him, his voice, the type of music, his way of performing, I wanted that too! He was a huge inspiration.

How did you continue singing?
I sang different Christmas songs at the 4th grade Christmas celebration for an audience of approx. 300 people. I also entered a local talentshow with my cousin. I was 15 and we sang a song of the musical Miss Saigon. My first real solo performance was in a café in Amsterdam, where I sang "Let There Be Love" for my uncle's birthday.

Your first jazz song!
That's right! My very first jazz song was Nat King Coles "Let There Be Love".

Have you always loved jazz?
Yes. I grew up listening to many different artists, from James Brown and Earth, Wind & Fire to Michael Jackson and The Carpenters. But my grandpa and uncle both had huge swing CD collections; Harry Connick Jr, Ella Fitzgerald, The Mills Brothers etc. I loved it. And I obviously still do. It might be unbelievable, it might be a bit weird someone that young liking this type of music, but I do. I'm a jazznerd. I think it's the greatest music ever written. The lyrics, the melodies, the big bands, beautfiul. Though, that doesn't mean I don't like other types of music! I also love, Soul, R&B and Latin music!

Who are your favorite artists?
I have too many to mention. But to name a few, ofcourse Michael Bublé, Ella Fitzgerald, Harry Connick Jr., Mel Tormé, Bobby Darin, Glenn Miller, The Mills Brothers, but also Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, Robin Thicke and many many more.

Do you only sing jazz?
No, I also sing songs of Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Adele, Amy Winehouse etc.

How did you start developing yourself?
I bought myself some backingtracks. Studied the songs and tried to make them my own. I wanted to perform as much as possible, so I ended up at parties and weddings, and I continued performing at school and talentshows.

You also have an album?
That's right. No professional one, I recorded 15 songs in my room. Sang it in the microphone of my webcam, as that was a very clear and good mic, and I designed an albumcover. There have been orders from all over the world; USA, Australia, Holland, Spain, México and Canada.

You've also been on the radio?
Yes! That was very cool. I could be heard on Fairchild Radio. A multicultural radiostation in Vancouver. You can listen to it on this page by the way.

Vancouver?! What happened?
Dad Bublé was approached by the DJ of a Dutch languaged radioshow in Burnaby, Canada. When he heard the DJ were Dutch, he started telling about me. One thing led to another and my music got played together with Bublé's songs.

When are we going to hear more from you?
I hope as soon as possible! I need real professional recordings. Unfortunately a studio is quite expensive, but as soon as I get things together, I can start sending in my songs and start promoting. Los Angeles' Martini In The Morning radiostation is interested and who knows what could happen next!

So are we going to hear a duet with Bublé in the future?
Ha, let's hope so!
